The Coast

The piercing sound of the alarm clock brought me back from the dead of sleep. I started to wriggle and stretch within my cosy, warm, haven that is my bed.
As parts of my body were gradually turning on, I realised today was my big trip to the coast. I leaned over at the bulky black clock. I was already ten minutes late. Suddenly my body's systems were all on go, at this I pounced from my bed like a hunting puma. I flew open the tatty old wardrobe doors and chucked on some terribly out of fashion, checked clothes.
I skipped down the uneven stairs like a first year pupil so excited to be at school. I flung some bread into the toaster and started to prepare the picnic. I had just finished setting up our mammoth feast when the toaster popped up. Slightly charred but never mind, I popped some butter on it and shovelled it into my furnace of a mouth.
I carefully placed the food into my big hiking bag and bunged a blanket on top. I zipped up the bag and threw it by the door. I walked into the sitting room and slumped in front of the television. I was just about to turn it on when the doorbell rang. I jumped up with a bounce, grabbed my bag and flung myself out the door to see Amy. I put my arm around her and we set off up the hill towards the cliff overlooking the magnificent and surreal coast. The hill started to become a very steep incline. Soon we were struggling up the hill at a pace no faster than a snail's. Never the less we were making progress and we soon reached the meadow on top of the cliff, we wondered round aimlessly for a few moments till we found a clearing.
We hurled our bags to the ground and collapsed! I heaved myself up but I was so exhausted I soon plummeted back down again. I laid my upon the dewy, uncultivated fresh grass and grasped the bag. I pulled it towards me and I undid the bulky clips. I took out the blanket and it laid it carefully on the grass and sat back down on it.
