ANALYSIS OF THE STORY "THE PARABLE OF THE PRODIGAL SON:"
             The complaints of the older son according to the parable were due to the father's reception and rejoicing of his lost son. The father was happy to receive back his lost son as any other parent can do, but the elder son did not feel the same way his father did. Though they were brothers, he did not even feel the need to call him my brother but rather told his father "this son of yours" to show that he no longer claims him as his brother. His arguments with his father were reasonable with the fact that the younger son had gone away for several years and misused his share of the property and come back with nothing.
             However, it seems that the elder son has been working hard most of his time. From what we read in the parable, the elder son was not at home when the young son arrived. This part raises the concern that he may have been working somewhere in the farm or business. He tells us that, the father has never recognized his hard work there before by even giving him the smallest thing, only to his surprise that, the father is celebrating the coming back of the son who never obeyed him. He felt unappreciated and despised, his complaints suggests that he had a long-smoldering resentment.
             In my view, it was right for the older son to complaint to his father of what he was doing to his younger son. Though the father told him that whatever he had was for him, it's in the back of his mind that it was going to be his responsibility to take care of him hence inherit some amount of property thereafter. It was bitter for him to see his brother coming back to get another share of the property while he had taken his share which seems not to be fair to him.
