In our present culture, we (and when I say "we", I am referring to the majority of society) think we know about a person's background after a couple of simple facts; and what we don't know, we automatically assume based upon stereotypes and limited interaction with few people who share the same traits. In reality, we're nothing more than charlatans. The constant desire to know anything and everything about another person in today's society is absolutely perplexing. If a person is of a different race, ethnic background, social class, and so on, we immediately form an idea of what their customs, rituals, folkways, mores, standard of living, or religious beliefs. It happens in all different areas of American life-almost as if it's unavoidable.
             In politics, have you ever noticed how we are so eager to slap a label based on a few of a candidate's views? That's right-Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent, etc. When it comes to election time, some people don't even take into account what a person says they will do while in office, rather they just vote for the party they feel they are a part of. It's like the political label is an easy-way-out decision, so the voter doesn't have to actually take time to analyze other politician's thoughts and views-no no, that would be too strenuous. That's where I think the idea of an assumptive world came from in the first place-outright laziness. It seems that no one wants to take the time to get to know someone else better nowadays. We seem to catch a few quick facts, and them form the rest of the opinion ourselves (it may seem repetitive, but I'm simply showing consistency in more specified fields so it's not like I'm just pulling a general statement from my ass.)
