While this may be an extremist's view, nonetheless if the Nature theory is completely true, then on the one hand it erases the need for social programs. On the other hand it completely destroys the idea of personal responsibility and accountability. In contrast the Nurture theory may place an undue amount of responsibility on parents. Therefore, as many others, I feel the truth may lie somewhere between Nature and Nurture.
             Nurture means "to take care of" or "to rear", it comes from the Latin root meaning nourish and nurse. This theory says that who we are and who we become is largely based on our environment and our upbringing. This says that everyone and everything around you has influence on your personality and character. However, it doesn't simply mean that parents are solely responsible for how their children end up. In a book entitled; "The Nurture Assumption", Judith Rich Harris explains her theory that children's peers may actually be more important that the child's parents.
