Courage is defined as the willingness to take risks when the outcome in uncertain,
and when the risk taken may involve harm, loss, or danger to the one taking the risk. To
For instance, firefighters risk their lives by going in to burning buildings to save
lives of total strangers that are trapped inside. They don't think to themselves what if this
building falls down while I am inside of it. Policemen go to bank robberies, high-speed
chases and other times when people break the law or put people in harms way. They
don't think what if these perpetrators shoot me. Military men and women are called up
for duty when there is a threat to America's security. They to don't think about what if I
don't get to come home to my family again. There are a variety of people in society to
day that do courageous things to save other people. All of these people have one thing in
common they all know they are here to defend, protect, and save our lives on a daily
basis not knowing if they will ever return home to their families.
On Sept. 11, 2001 a variety of courageous men and women come to the rescue
when America's security was broken by terrorists. Firemen, medical personnel,
policemen and even military personnel sprung into action to save the innocent lives of
people trapped in the Twin Towers when 2 planes were taken over by terrorist. There
were courageous people on Flight 93 that risked their lives to save the lives of the people
were the terrorist tried to crash the plane. Those people chose to save lives of people that
they never met over their own. People that were going down the stairs out of the Towers
would here voices of people that they worked with and they would turn around and go
back into the rooms and try to save people that they knew. These are all courageous acts
