William Gibson "The Net Is a Waste of Time"
Internet is a public facility. It gives us the opportunity to access to millions of people around the world. Sometimes people call the internet simply"the net "which is a World Wide Web system of computer networks. This device is one of the best ways to reach to any information at anytime, but William Gibson who is the author of "the Net is a Waste of Time", has another point of view about this subject. The purpose of this essay is to persuade the audience and convince the readers that using the internet is nothing but killing the time, and I strongly disagree with this statement. Gibson's idea about the internet is completely wrong because nowadays The Net has become a part of our lives, and many people can not live without it, especially people who need to have access to several web sites in order to do their research or their jobs like experts.
Gibson says that he believes in technology, but he has not had an e-mail address until recently. He gets an e-mail address and becomes an avid browser. He says that he finds the internet is a good way to waste of time. It is truly an inadequate argument because he just expresses his point of view. He has not done any survey about this subject, and he can not define The Net this way without asking any other people's ideas on this specific matter. He says that "but I have recently become an avid browser of the World Wide Web" (652). Gibson also states that "it offers us the opportunity to waste time, to wander aimlessly, to day dream about the countless other lives, the other people" (653).
Gibson believes that the internet is an opportunity for procrastinator's to kill their time when other people who see them doing it; they might think that they are working. I believe that he has no right to describe the internet this way. He just talks about himself. He finds this instrument fo...
