             Hester is a strong headed woman. She presents herself with a kind of my way or no way attitude. She was an independent woman waiting on her husband to meet her in the new world. Something like this had never been seen in the virgin community. She came into their home with an understanding of the world. An understanding that most of them could never grasp. She wore bright clothes with lace and celebrated her independence openly. These were her mistakes, but in the same way her destiny. She clashed against the community without even knowing she was doing it. She represented the fear that all these people shared. This fear grew every time anyone saw her.
