Supernatural in Macbeth

             The belief in the supernatural has been present throughout time. The thought of magic and death is plagued mankind for millions of years. In the era of William Shakespeare, there was a strong theory in the supernatural. Therefore, the concept of the supernatural plays in many of Shakespeare's plays (Supernatural in Shakespeare's Plays). In two of Shakespeare's more popular plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth, the idea of the supernatural is a huge part to the structure of the plot. The uses of supernatural through the witches, visions, magic, apparitions were presented as key elements in Shakespeare's plays.
             The Supernatural occurs many times during Macbeth. Yet (Supernatural in Shakespeare's Plays) "of the supernatural phenomenon evident in Macbeth, the witches are the most important" (Supernatural in Shakespeare's Plays). During Shakespeare's time, people were very superstitious and believed in witches. In Macbeth, the witches symbolize Macbeth's evil desires. They are the catalyst that unleashes Macbeth's evil goals. Macbeth thinks that through the witches, he could fulfill his own fate. He wanted to know his fate, even if it led to a destructive nature. To answer these questions, the witches call upon their masters. This is where the prophet's three apparitions appear (Supernatural in Shakespeare's Plays). These three apparitions are vital to Macbeth's downfall.
             (Supernatural in Shakespeare's Plays) "The first apparition is Macbeth's own head (later to be cut off by Macduff) confirming his fears of Macduff.
