High School Dropouts

             The numbers of high school dropouts are growing each year. Some of the main causes of children dropping out of high school are from the lack of parental guidance, falling into the wrong crowd, and difficult life circumstances. Without a high school education, finding a job is more difficult and the job will not pay as much without a degree. As the economy changes and as the competition increases, finding a meaningful job becomes more challenging. Not having a high school degree almost always negates a person from ever having a "good" job. Of course, there are those rare cases of "making it" in life without a high school degree. However, the effects of not getting your high school diploma could affect the rest of your life.
             Families seem to come second these days. Parents are so absorbed in their work and struggling to keep their "head above water", that often times their children get left behind. Without parental guidance, children do not learn right from wrong. A lack of discipline may result in children dropping out of school. Adolescents are very easily influenced, and without a parental figure to teach them they will learn from someone else. They will not understand the importance of going to school and getting an education. However, families that do understand the importance of a high school education do everything in their power to make sure their children stay in school. If children are serious about their education they tend to not fall into the wrong crowds.
             Falling into the wrong crowd, will muddle the rest of a teenager's life. An adolescent could start taking drugs and skipping school. Drugs are one of the most common reasons why children drop out. Once a teenager starts doing drugs they are more than likely to move onto more harsh drugs.
