Personal Statment

University has always appealed to me because of the wealth of experience it has to offer as a student. I am interested in studying Psychology and Criminology; this is because I am fascinated by topics like why/what people commit crime, what makes people unique and how different factors shape our personality. This combination of subjects also appeals to me due to its unique association of problem solving, teamwork and that it allows me to pursue my interest in people and to care for others. Various career options have attracted me, which by studying these two subjects will allow me to achieve, such as the Police Force, Probation and possibly further training to become a Chartered Psychologist.
The courses I am currently studying at the moment are A2 Psychology, Sociology and English Literature and at AS Level General Studies. At the moment in both my Psychology and Sociology courses, I am studying crime as a specialist topic, and it is through these subjects, I decided to combine Psychology with Criminology as I feel these subjects compliment each other well. My English Literature course has helped me become a critical thinker and has enabled me to organise my ideas and thoughts in a logical manner. I decided to take AS Level General Studies as I felt that it would improve my general knowledge. It has been beneficial in assisting me to understand the society in which we live and about the various individuals and groups who have shaped our country dating back to the Ancient Greeks and Romans. Through my AS Level ICT course, I learned a variety of skills, which are of great importance in all professions, as it has allowed me to develop my communication and research capabilities.
At the present, I am aiming to improve my AS Level grades through re-sitting a couple of exams in January 2003, as I feel I can do better. I am also putting most of my effort into achieving the best grades I can in my A2 cours
