One of the major problems we face in the U.S is child abuse. Many children around the world are getting abused, whether it is mentally, physically or sexually. Even though a solution like this is not in compliance with the U.S constitution neither is child abuse. Therefore, violators of the law which protects children form abuse an example must be made to prevent further occurrences. A good example of a punishment, which would steer people clear of breaking the law, would be punishing them by inflicting a worse amount of abuse in that which they inflicted upon the child.
In 1993 approximately 1,553,800 children in the U.S were either abused and/or neglected (Child Maltreatment: Reports form the states to the National Child Abuse and Neglected Data System, 1998). Researchers say that the most frequent fatalities are form birth to five years of age. Children are more often beaten or abused sexually at a younger age because they are ore vulnerable and are unable to defend themselves.
Child abuse can happen to anyone. When my friend was a little girl her uncle sexually abused her. Emotionally, she was shattered. After that incident she was unable to trust anybody., I tried to comfort her to the best of my ability. As someone who helped a close friend through this awful experience I have a right to discuss this matter in a strong way.
These children/victims of child abuse are our future. We need to keep them safe and out of harms way. Children give love and only expect love back. Children's perception of right and wrong is somewhat altered at their age, and they do not realize what is going on. Child abuse can be terminal mentally and physically. There is a limit for spanking and yelling at a child. When that boundary is crossed the child becomes hesitant to express themselves as normally. That child might grow up and treat others as he or she was treated.
