It has certainly become clear to me that in this class the grade received goes hand in hand with the work that has been put in. Considering that I haven't put forth much effort so far, it is not surprising that my grades are far below what I had anticipated getting in this class. Not to worry though, for I have come up with a plan for success. In order to achieve my goals of higher grades I will take the following steps to help improve. Step one is for me to actually read the book as we progress in class. Step two will be to cut back on hours at work, and I will not go out as often. Step three is for me to take advantage of the online review exercises.
Step one is by far the most important area in which I need to improve. I can count on one hand the number of pages that I read in the textbook outside of class, and that is not a good way for me to succeed. In the first set of chapters we studied I did not read a single one and my grade on the exam reflected that. I also did poorly on the online homework quizzes as a result of not reading. I believe that I have already fixed this problem as I have applied myself and read all of chapter five, and have also been rewarded by getting an eighty-five percent on the quiz the first time taken. I am sure that I will be able to stick to my reading, as I have made more time for myself by cutting back on the number of hours that I work during the week.
My previous work schedule was Monday through Friday from 1pm to 7pm, and all day every other Saturday. This was too much for me as my job requires a lot of physical labor and would leave me too tired to do homework. Another obstacle for me to overcome was that I was going out too much. With this being the summer and many of my friends having either just graduated or not taking any summer classes, it seemed as if their was something to do every night.
