to the Tower of High Sorcery at Palinthas. There they met Usha and Tas. Palin escaped from Steel and together with Tas, entered into the Abyss from the portal in Raistlin's Laboratory and retrieved the archmage from the land of the dead.
             While Palin was busy in the Abyss, Steel Brightblade returned to his regiment as they were preparing to attack the High Clerist's Tower. There, Steel received his punishment for letting a prisoner escape. Steel was expected to die in the front lines of the assault, but with the help of Tanis Half-elven, who died in the battle, he managed to survive. As the black knights rejoiced, an order was made for Steel and his entire regiment to go into hiding and await further commands. Soon after, the army of Chaos attacked the newly conquered tower and obliterated all that were not in hiding or being held prisoner.
