Is America today closer to the attainment of the ‚ 'Dream' than it was in 1931, or has the 'Dream' been lost or even turned into a ‚Nightmare'?
The American 'Dream'; what is it all about? Is it only an illusionary 'Dream' which is a perfect means of a societal system to give it a structural character, in order to give the individuals the consciousness that their lives have a sense or should have a sense? Moreover, does an impartial objective exist which does not depend on the goals of the individual and thus produces unity and a national consciousness? Or turned Fortuna her wheel of destiny and therefore created a new kind of society which strives only for the individual happiness? But does Fortuna really exist or is she embodied in the eternal economical progress? We can only find an answer to these questions if we utilize the means of logical thinking and above all criticism which enables us to find out what this 'Dream' is all about and what means does it make use of to put blinkers on our eyes in order to prevent us from noticing the faults of the system.
To think that the 'American Dream' is only limited to the material aspect, namely gaining as much money as you are able to do independent of your social status, is very naive and can be seen as a sign of immaturity and ignorance. Due to the fact that this 'Dream' has enormous effects on mankind and on the urge of reaching the better you cannot restrict your mind to one single aspect of this complex structure. Daily, you can see the effects of the 'Dream' in the economic behaviour of the individual, political speeches, even in nearly every discussion you can find elements of the 'American Dream', which now turned into a 'Dream' of the western world, due to consequences of globalisation and cultural development.
