Critical Thinking: - Belmoor Pitch Proposal Essay
I have read the proposal, which states that if approved, the Belmoor Pitch is to be sold to a property developer. After which I have contemplated the advantages and the disadvantages and have came to the firm conclusion that I am fully behind the proposal. This is mainly because the £1-1.5 million that is generated from the deal will be spent on much needed improvements of educational facilities within the college. This will benefit the students greatly, which intern will boost the AS and A – level results and will enhance the college's reputation further.
Secondly the field itself is of a very poor standard. The football and rugby teams cannot play on it during the winter months as it is flooded the majority of the time. So I ask myself, if the members of the football and rugby team are the students that use it most frequently and they cannot use it for the most of their season, then does the field have serve any purpose at all? Furthermore when there is a better condition field that does not flood as bad during the winter just and 100 metres from the proposed site it leaves no obstacle what so ever.
The opposition argue that buy selling the site it will ruin the sporting name of the college. I feel that the college name will be affected for the better, as it will be recognised academically as well as a sporting college. The sports facilities also will be vastly improved with the money; there will also be a better pitch for the students to use, again this shows that the sporting name will be even more justified.
In conclusion I feel that is in the college's interest that they accept the proposal.
