Miranda and Tracy characters were similar but also different in many ways. They both were women who left behind their homey nest which they spent most of their lives to move to a new place. For the first time in their life, both the characters were let out into the world where their family and friends were not around. In the new city where there were no familiar faces to watch over them, both characters were exposed to a world which they were foreign to. In Boston Miranda faces a world of loneliness with no close friends or family. Miranda decided to pursue the sinful affair with Dev because he was able to fill the companionship hole that she was missing in her life at the time. Tracy on the other hand was influenced by the typical wild college life. At 17 in college and in a new town where her parents were not around to chaperone, Tracy took her chance by experiment with drinking and sex.
Miranda and Dev's relationship was very different from Tracy had with Henry Fielding's relationship. Miranda and Dev's relationship was an immoral affair. They both knew what they were going into but still agreed to commit adultery. Miranda and Dev's affair could of hurt many people around them, mainly Dev's wife. Tracy and Henry's relationship on the other hand was just a one night stand. Like Miranda and Dev, Tracy and Henry both agreed to the actions that went on during the one night stand. The only difference in Tracy and Henry's case was that it was moral and no one besides themselves would have to pay for the consequences. Tracy at first might of thought of it as "rape," but she later realized that it was what she "wanted" to happen. The consequences of the one night stand was not as serious as if would of been if it were an affair. Miranda and Dev's affair was unjust compared to Tracy and Henry's one night stand.
