Prophecy: a prediction of the future under the influence of divine guidance. In the novel Brave New World, Huxley writes of ideas that are so futuristic they are seen to be almost insane. Huxley touches upon numerous imaginative thoughts within his work that would not have even crossed the minds of citizen during that period in time. The three concepts in which Huxley prophesizes throughout the novel are cloning and how reproduction has been taken over by the making of test tube babies, diversions and how they are used as socio-political tools, and finally the use of consumerism and how society is controlled. Throughout Huxley's work there are many parallels between the novel and our society today, but none are more significant than the roles of cloning, diversions and consumerism.
             One could argue that Huxley consciously delivers a valuable message: control advancements in technology before they control us. Huxley supports this message with a strong example of a society that is so overrun by technology that the human race has lost their individuality, freedom, and ultimately their identity as human beings. In this "Brave New World," artificially born humans are genetically engineered, divided into castes, molded into machines through hypnopaedia, and controlled by the drug Soma. It is clear that the freedom and ability to changes ones life in the novel is not aloud and this evident when Mustapha Mond utters: "He can't help himself; he's foredoomed. Even after decanting. He still inside a bottle"(Huxley, Brave, 203). This bottle can be interpreted metaphorically as representing their fate in life. The New World appears to be a perfect utopia on the surface--there is no disease, no warfare, and no sadness. However, the humans have sacrificed thought, feelings, free will, and everything, which makes one human to achieve this state.
