If you have the misfortune of getting stuck in snow, and almost all of us will be stuck in snow sooner or later in life. Get out of your vehicle while being very aware of the traffic around you, safety should always be your main concern in any situation whether it be changing a tire or getting your self unstuck from a snow ditch. Determine if you can get your vehicle unstuck on your own or if you will require assistance. Check your vehicle manual for tips. Depending on your vehicle it may have special functions that you may be able to capitalize on such as four-wheel drive. Providing your manual doesn't offer you any assistance here are a few steps that just might help you:
             You must first assess the situation; all to many times a minute problem can look bigger than what it really is. Take a couple of deep breaths to relax, and make sure you are the out of danger as best as you can.
             Clean the snow away from the front and back wheels. Since the average person doesn't carry a shovel with them in the car during the winter season you will have to improvise. Use your foot or any object you deem valuable in your snow removing efforts. This will allow you to gain some type of leverage over the snow pile.
             Enhance traction of your car or truck. Often being stuck is caused by lack of traction. Bald tires or snow-covered tires and or icy roads can cause this. Check your trunk and surroundings for anything you can drive over that will give you some traction on your planned driving route. Some examples of things that will help your traction route would be mats, dirt, kitty litter or salt.
             Make sure your driving route is clear.
