The story of an hour & The kiss - Kate Chopin

How does Chopin present the main characters and why?
Miss Nathalie is together with a rich, but unattractive man called Brantain. She is sly, cunning, and a cat-like character. Chopin includes 'the cat that lay curled in her lap' in the story to relate it to the main character, Miss Nathalie. She is rude and greedy, as she only likes Brantain for the money, and is secretly seeing a not-so-rich, but attractive man called Harvey.
