It was a Friday night, this past September, when my best friend Katie called me and asked me to come up to her house because she had something important to tell me. The H family has been living up the street from me for about 10 years now, and although I have only recently become close to them, I now consider Katie and her older sister Lauren to be my closest friends. Since we are so close and together almost all the time, we always joke about them adopting me. As I walked up the street, I was anxious to find out what Katie could possibly have to tell me that was so important. "Two weeks", was the answer followed by more crying. I helped her into the kitchen; a kitchen filled with so many memories of Saturday nights just sitting around talking, and sat down. Lauren came down stairs, and by the look on her face it was easy to tell that she was upset too. Lauren however is the stoic one; she doesn't express her emotions as much as Katie, but I could still tell. I was still in disbelief, we were all trying to make excuses on why it wouldn't work out, because their
mom changes her mind constantly, or how we wouldn't let it happen, but I think...
