When Malcolm X was in prison he began to study what it was to be a Muslim. Under this religion, he was a personal follower, and believer in the honorable Elijah Muhammad. Elijah Muhammad was thought to be messenger from their god, Allah. When Malcolm X was released from his prison sentence he met with Muhammad and began to study the views of the Black Muslim, Black Muslims being afro-American followers of the Nation of Islam.
             Muhammad knew how special this young man was, and he quickly became a minister and preacher for their religion. Soon he began to put his own perspectives and views into the religion. This caused some problems with the Nation of Islam, when their views began to separate. Malcolm felt that this was a huge betrayal, because he had felt that he had always been a devout, militant follower of Muhammad and the nation of Islam. This betrayal and rivalry would eventually lead to his murder.
             Black Muslims believed that there was no other answer to the racial incongruence that was going on in America and felt they had to completely separate themselves from the white race. They felt like they could never have full justice and equality living in the white mans world. In their minds, there was no other option because the oppression in America was to deep seeded, and no matter how hard they would preach, they could never totally be rid of the wrongs in American society.
             Malcolm X will be remembered as a revolutionary man who along with others played a vital role on the battle for civil rights. Nobody will soon forget the impact that he had, and won't let his death be in vain. He touched a number of peoples lives, and will continue to do so for African American people.
