When I was just a young boy, I always dreamt of something. One day, I hurriedly went to my Lola's house and asked her, "Lola Mamang, what does one do to make a wish come true?"
My Lola answered back with a smile. "You know, Nonoy, just wish upon a star and wait until your dream comes true," she replied.
After that, I thanked her, kissed her, and went outside to continue the game I was playing with my brothers Nikki and Coco. That night, when I was preparing to go to sleep, I looked at the sky through a window and looked for a perfect star to wish on. When I finally found a perfect star, I expressed my wish of having my dream to have a baby sister come true.
Days went on and my dream of a baby sister still didn't come true. But I didn't lose hope because Lola told me to wait for it to happen. Then, one day, Papa brought Kuya Nikki, Kuya Coco, and myself to the hospital. There I saw a baby being held by Mama. I hurriedly asked her if it was a girl and Mama answered, "Yes, it's a girl!"
From that day on, whenever I had a dream and wanted to see it come true, I wished upon a star.
Two years from now, the Ateneo de Naga University High School will transfer to Pacol. Ateneo will also by then start to accept girls.
Once again, I find myself dreaming of something. This time, my dream is for Ateneo and the Ateneans. I then again remember what my Lola told me, "Wish upon a star."
So this night, I will wish upon a star. I will wish on it my dreams for the Ateneo: that it will be more vigilant in teaching its students; that it will strengthen its teachings about God; and that it will guide its students to the right path when they are misguided. I also will wish on it my dream of an Ateneo that is recognized as one of the most outstanding schools in the Philippines.
