med or are waiting to be discovered as the technology unfolds. Socialization via technological means is a hugely vast and sometimes complicated arena. The technologies used for socialization can include telephones, e-mail, cellular telephones, Internet based chat and Internet based web cams, even video games are not exempt from impacting socialization in today's world. The use of technology as a tool for socialization has become so popular that many school systems are integrating technology into their programs for use in student socialization, with emphasis on students with disabilities.
             This paper will look at some of the different means of socialization through the use of available technology and the traditional method of socialization that the technology is impacting. In particular, we will examine the concept of community in technological terms and how its definition has changed with the creation of the "virtual or online community". The paper will also look at how the socialization of the family unit has changed from traditional methods as a result of available technologies, some of the ways technology has had an impact on workplace socialization, and some of the benefits of technological socialization for disabled individuals.
             The term community has many different meanings, all of which are understood to mean that some type of togetherness exists among a group of people for a particular purpose. As defined by Webster's community is: "
