Poem analysis

             The word carbon- tetrachloride means a chemical compound containing four chlorine atoms per molecule. The word tetrachloride is used in the poem "Where I'm From". It is found in the first stanza, second line.
             The word tetrachloride supports the theme of family, and how unique a family can be, "I'm from the know-it-alls" (stanza two, line three), and later on she says "I'm from fried corn and strong coffee..." (stanza three, line three). This demonstrates family creativity and how different one family is to another. For example, a family can consist of a daughter and a dad or boy and his aunt and uncle. The poet is using many words to express her knowledge of her family. This could mean various things. For example, it can mean "I'm from Native American and Black American."
             It is ironic; one of the words in this poem is one of the words from my favorite song. Every time I hear the word I begin to sing the song. The word is glistening, and the song is I'm Real by J.Lo and Ja Rule. Part of the verse of the song goes as follows, Head blowin' in the wind sun GLISTENING. As I here the song I picture myself driving in the summer time and relaxing, it also sometimes relieves my stress.
             This poem reflects diversity by telling all the different people and places she comes from. The poem "Where I'm From" tells who she comes from, Imogene and Alafair. They must be her grandparents and her parents must be Artemus and Billie. The poem also shows diversity by telling the different thing she comes from. Those thing consists of eyeglasses, know-it-alls, pass-it-ons, strong coffee, and the eye of her father. This is how this poem shows diversity.
             The poet does not come out and name the things she describes because she wants to keep her audience thinking about her origin. The poet also does it this way because she can feel her writings and write more. This...
