             This passage shows the initial conflict between the characters in the beginning of the book. This one would definitely have to top the list on conflicts and their turning points. Bronte shows us how Jane's dislike for Mrs. Reed comes to a driving climax. After this conversation takes place between Mr. Brocklehurst and Mrs. Reed, Jane completely unleashes her fury upon Mrs. Reed and sees it as a conflict that she has won. This is also a view into the style of Bronte and how she is very harsh with her words and ideas and isn't afraid to be very blunt about them.
             "The next day commenced as before, getting up and dressing by rushlight; but this morning we were obliged to dispense with the ceremony of washing; the water in the pitchers was frozen.
