Marriage Vows Means Nothing Today

             In every culture, marriage is important events. Marriage is a union, institutionalized and publicly recognize, between a man and a woman. Marriage is commonly defined as a partnership between the two members of opposite sex known as husband and wife. Time has changed, however, and many of the traditional assumptions about the marriage and family life no longer seem to apply in every instance. A marital relationship usually involves some kind of contract, either written or specified by tradition, which defines the partners' right and obligation to each other. By degrees, mistrust, fear, and anger induce the conviction of aloneness. Marriage becomes disillusion, despair, and finally divorce. In today's society marriage vows has been lost. Marriage vows mean nothing today. Here some characteristics of marriage vows that I am going to compare with today's society. The characteristics of marriage vows are stay together, promise to love and for worse time until parted by death.
             We consider a family to be a group of at least two persons who live together. I have seen many married couple does not live together, but they still married. In these kinds of situation, the business is taking place of family. Many businessmen usually travel outside of town, state or country for business. They do not meet their family for month and so on. According to Adams, Alexander and Gullotta, "these kinds of household are rare today. Many families do remain in contact exchanging information by mail or phone, visiting when possible, and extending help when needed. A family maintaining this continued contact between generations is called a modified nuclear" (6). Today, most controversial issue is divorce. Couple makes vow to stay together until death, but after several months many couple makes decision to divorce for some reason.
