             Around the same time postmodernism was still growing larger and wider afield. It was a blatant reversal of modernism's official status. It offered an end to distinction and thus individuality. Two main names of this movement were The Clash and Andy Warhol; they made a populist attack on the social class elitism, which signified modernism. Andrew Huyssen is known for his theory of 'the great divide' between both the classes and culture. Modernism was seen as the status quo and postmodernism as the kitsch resisting this status quo.
