Tones in tales

Stories are not always what they seem to be. It's hard to know how truly a story is, because when it is written various aspects influence the writer, and therefore, the final outcome can be completely different from the reality. The story of a Miller cheated by his wife in his own house and with a man he himself invited, can be told in many different ways, such as it happens in The Reeve's Tale and the Boccaccio's story. The base of both stories is two men that went in the Miller's house and, while he was sleeping, got confused and ended sleeping with his wife and daughter. "A thief he was, forsooth, of corn and meal, And sly at that, accustomed well to steal," (Line 19, The Reeve's Tale) said the Reeve at the beginning of the tale referring to the Miller, letting the audience know the thief he is, furthermore, he also refer to him as a liar, "The Miller snapped his fingers, truth to tell, And cracked his...
