I think the author's purpose for this section was to show how everything was created and the fall of man. I think it is kind of depressing what happened in the beginning of time. Everything starts out perfect and wonderful but then it goes quickly down hill from there. Too bad things had to end up the way they did because it would have been a whole lot better if Adam and Eve just listened to God and not ate the fruit.
             Something I thought was interesting was that God created everything in steps. It seems like he could have just done everything all at once because He is God! Why did God create Eve from Adam's rib? I'm sure the answer to this question only God knows but I 'll take a guess at it. Perhaps He wanted to show what a deep connection man and women have to each other. When a couple gets married they really do become one flesh.
             Another question I have that is very difficult to answer is why did God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden? Why put temptation in the garden when everything is perfect? We put something there that could cause Adam and Eve to stumble? Maybe it was a test for Adam and Eve so God could see how much they trusted and loved Him. Obviously they would have gotten an F on that test.
             It's amazing to me that Cain not only killed his own brother, but then when God asks him where Abel is he lied to God. It sure didn't take very long for mankind to start doing horrible things. No wonder why God wanted to blot out human beings from the Earth. It's a good thing there was one person that found favor with God or else we wouldn't be here now.
             I think it is pretty crazy that God actually went through with it and wiped out everyone except for Noah, his family, and all the animals except for two of each kind. There must have been some really wicked people. It all goes back to Adam and Eve. If they had have been obedient
