Several times a week I witness my fellow students make a choice that may end their lives. Without giving it a second thought these individuals put their lives and those who surround them in danger. When they do this I am sure they never think that they could be committing murder. What they are doing is drinking and driving. When someone gets behind the wheel of a car after drinking they are putting themselves in the position to commit homicide. Something needs to be done to change the thinking of college students to make them realize the mistake they are making.
             For many college students drinking is a form of stress relief and relaxation. Drinking gives you a feeling that nothing else can. Alcohol allows students to forget about the pressures from parents, professors, and bosses. During the time that you are drunk everything that is wrong seems right. Drinking is also a bonding experience between friends, particularly male students. Many organizations encourage college students to drink. Fraternities and Sororities are notoriously known for there ritualistic drinking habits. For the majority of college students drinking is a part of life. No matter what the reason for drinking it is imperative that students find a way to do it responsibly.
             I live in an apartment complex that is geared toward college students so I witness this behavior weekly. On a typical Friday night I see three forms of drinking and driving. There are those who drink before going out to avoid the cost of drinks where they are going. These people run an extra risk because they are not only driving there drunk they will probably still be drunk when it comes time to leave. The second type are those who spend the whole night out at bars and then drive themselves and their friends home. There are also those that stay in to drink but drive themselves home from the party.
