What's So Amazing About Grace?

             Before reading this book I had never heard of Phillip Yancy or his book, "What 's So Amazing About Grace?". However, through my reading of this book I became almost infatuated with his style of writing. The stories in this book are easy to understand and even easier to relate to. Through powerful stories Yancey illustrates grace both in his life and the lives of others, And also touches on how, as Christians and members of the church, we need to reveal the grace of God to others and share with them our knowledge of this gift.
             "What's So Amazing about Grace?" was written by Phillip Yancy and is about God's love for mankind through grace. Yancy starts off by telling the story of a homeless prostitute who is extremely poor and is even unable to buy clothes for her two year old daughter. Things got so bad for this woman that she went so far as to rent out her own daughter to men interested in kinky sex. She stated that she made more money renting out her daughter for an hour than she could on her own in a single night. She went on to say that she did this in an attempt to support her drug habit.
             Yancy follows this story by making an illustration about how people in similar situations, during Jesus' time, went to Him for refuge. Whereas people, such as the prostitute described, tend to avoid the church for fear of ridicule.
             Later in the book Yancy goes on to tell the story of how the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous visited Dr. Bill D. Yancy states that Bill D. expresses the common loss of hope, and continues by stating that he too occasionally senses the truth about grace.
