The Little Foxes is a play written by Lillian Hellman. This story takes place during the year of 1900 in a small southern town. Regina Giddens is the story's main character that is quarreling with her two brothers, Ben and Oscar, about a business venture they are about to embark on.
             In the story, Ben and Oscar are counting on Regina's wealthy but terminally ill husband Horace to invest money in their company. Regina becomes very angry when she finds out that Horace's share will not be what it should be and tries to persuade him about not helping out the cause. The two scheming brothers devise a plan to have Oscar's son, Leo, steal bonds from Horace's safety deposit box. The plan is working until Horace comes home to find that his bonds are not there. Horace knows that Regina is probably in on the scheme and decides not to report the theft; he decides to go along with the plan and request the amount back after the business is profitable so Regina will not profit from him after he dies. Regina is furious at this action and refuses to help her dying husband during the sudden onset of a heart spell. Regina then covers up that she did nothing to help her husband in his last dying minutes, and then takes the information about Ben and Oscar and blackmails them so she can receive a much larger share than previously discussed.
             Her daughter Alexandra nearly catches Regina's plan, when she basically accuses her mother of playing a part in the death of her father; but no one else realizes the connection.
