place environment. Much of this difficulty stems from a combination of the educational curriculum and the career path counselors within the schools. Many counselors have little training in their own career and have no practical procedures that will help guide students on how to make career decisions. This situation is compounded by a lack of interaction between employers and the school district. In short, this lack of training and employer interaction results in guidance counselors providing little or no guidance to students. It is little wonder that many students leaving school are unable or unsuccessful in their first attempts to enter the workplace and its socio-economic environment.
How are graduation students entering the workforce? Some businesses hold job fairs at schools. These events provide an opportunity for the businesses to conduct both informal and formal interviews of students. Unfortunately, only a few of the major employers participate in these programs. These businesses are usually looking for the "cream" of the graduating class. The remainder of the graduating class, usually more than 80 percent, is left to fend for its self in a job market that they are not prepared to enter.
