In 1973, the United States Supreme Court ruled in the Roe v Wade case that "abortion throughout the duration of pregnancy is legally permissible" (Partial Birth 1). Even though the Supreme Court ruled that abortion is legal there are still many who feel that this type of action is unjust and immoral. Pro-life supporters believe it is wrong to take the life of an unborn baby. They feel that the life of the baby should be protected and abortions should be banned. Some are opposed to abortion and feel that it should be made illegal because it is wrongful to take a human life. Some feel that they have to live up to the moral answer. Others are disturbed by the fact that there is one abortion for every two births (prochoice.com). However, there many people who feel that the mother has the choice of life. These pro-choice followers believe that that the mother has the right to choose what she does to her body and her unborn child. In order to choose which side you completely support one must ask several questions. Who decides whether abortion is viable option, and are there other options than abortion? What are the circumstances behind this pregnancy? How will this affect my life?
             The final decision of whether or not to proceed with an abortion ultimately lies in the mother's hands; however, the mother may be influenced by her family, religion, economic status, and marital status. Each of these things may influence her decision. One of the main factors in deciding is religion. All Catholics take a pro-life stance. They feel that abortion is morally wrong and should not be done. If her family is Catholic then they may persuade her to keep the child.
