Bonnie and Clyde vs. Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice

             In Bonnie and Clyde and Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, the couples involved in these stories all performed acts that went against society's conventionalities and ethics. The main characters of both movies were unfulfilled with the state in which they lived, and thus they became rebellious. Each individual had great affection for his or her partner; nevertheless, the love that each couple possessed was not enough to modify the shape of their situation. Hence, the characters took it upon themselves to make their lives more enthralling and merry by braking loose from the shackles of society.
             In Bonnie and Clyde, Clyde had dreams of a life of crime, and freedom from the hardships of the depression. He then fell in love with Bonnie with whom he soon began a crime spree that extended from Oklahoma to Texas. Bonnie, who was disgusted with social norms, was led to her alliance with Clyde due to her sense of rebellion. Together, they robbed small banks with skill and style, soon becoming minor celebrities known across America. This motion picture appeared to be giving support to the couple's rebellious ways because throughout the entire film, their violent acts were camouflaged and transformed into justified acts, portraying the duo as okay. It's not that the film glorified the violence brought about by the pair, but the film didn't seem to have had a lot of compassion for the victims who were essentially the law and who were also trying to catch Bonnie and Clyde. After all, Bonnie and Clyde were also victims of the depression! They, too, were stripped away of their hard-earned possessions. The only difference between them and their fellow victims was that they refused to remain helpless and allow the rest of society to dominate their lives.
