At Columbia I am hoping to learn the necessary skills to become an advertising designer. I want to know what the advertising industry is looking for in a designer, so that I can get a good job after college. I have always been interested in photography, and I want to try and incorporate some photography skills into my career as an advertising designer after college. Apart from the educational aspect of going to college, I also want to learn how to manage my time better. Going to college has always seemed like a gateway into the real world to me, and I hope to learn a lot while attending Columbia.
             Over my four years at Columbia, I am going to try my best to take classes that interest me, but also will help me out in graduating and with my major. I plan to study everything I need in order to major in advertising design. Also, I want to study my passion, photography. I also plan to study art history because I feel it is important in understanding where art started and how the masters made changed and developed art, as we know it now.
             All art subjects interest for many reasons in one way or another. My passion, photography has always interested me, but I didn't show interest in it until the past few years. My uncle bought me a camera for my sixteenth birthday and that started off my passion for taking photos. Art history is a really interesting subject for me. I studied it in high school, but not enough to fulfill my interest. My art teacher made us read about art history, and even though regular history is my worst subject, I love art history. Another thing I have an interest in is color. In art and the world, color is very important, and it has always interested me. I always try to use good color in my art because I feel it helps make a work of art better if good color is used. Finding new color schemes and new things to do with color is one of my favorite techniques to use.
