Ten years ago the typical American family could be described as, a single income family with a working father, a house wife mother, two kids, and even a fuzzy little cat. Since then, the typical American family has changed quite a bit. The single income family has now become either a double income family with both parents in the workforce or a single working parent, with the same responsibilities of raising children and maintaining a household. This is how most people that have a biological family would define a family.
             I looked up family on my computers dictionary to see what it had to offer and it told me that I didn't have a family; Family: husband and a wife, children optional. I have only a father so according to the MR. Webster I don't have a family. But family is an abstract word that can't be defined perfect in any words or way. I might not have a mom but I sure call my two sisters and my dad a family. They are people I am biologically related to and will love unconditionally. My friends, guys and girls, have to earn my love. My love isn't just handed to them, as is in an immediate family.
             My very close friends mean just as much to me as my family does. In the same sort of way I can call out to them, trust them and count on them to be there for me when I need them. My friend might even understand me more than any immediate family member could. In many ways my friends are more to me than family, they are my formed family. I have chosen them to be in my family not just my blood. "Blood is thicker than water", family ties are thick and are hard to be broken but in this case my formed family member are like oil because they would do more for me than my family would.
