After reading Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, I think that all of them are very interesting when it comes to describing people. There are two intelligences that I believe are my strengths. The two that stand out when describing myself are Verbal Linguistic and also Interpersonal Social.
I believe that both are very useful in my job. I am a nursing assistant at Nazareth Hospital, and I communicate with patients all day long. Being able to talk with patients and to find out their needs and wants is a very important part of working in the hospital. If I was not able to interact with people in a professional way, I would feel like I wasn't working up to my fullest potential.
I think that every single one of these intelligences is very important in nursing because every one really has a lot to do with working with people. The more of these qualities that a person possesses, the better off they will be in the world of working with people. The one intelligence that I would like to enhance is the Musical Rhythmic intelligence. I could probably enhance this by listening to different types of music, such as classical music since that is not something I would typically listen to. Reading different things about music and rhythm would also probably help to enhance this.
When I become anxious, my thinking becomes very unclear. I usually think about things over and over until I drive myself absolutely crazy. Some things that make me anxious are taking tests, going on interviews, and starting a new semester at school. I usually get anxious when I have to do something and it is new and I do not know what to expect. I could reduce the negative effects of my thinking by thinking things through, talking to people about my fears and anxieties, and also by just taking a little time to relax.
