A pentadic criticism of NFL Films Presents
Football games, family ties, professional athletes crying, and lots of love. When some one mentions the name Steve Mariucci all of these attributes come in to play. However, Steve Mariucci is more than just these apparent characteristics. Steve Marriucci is Head Football Coach of the San Francisco 49ers and a father figure to many, including his own family.
The concept of being a great father and coach at the same time is hard to imagine. Many non-believers would envision the concept to be one of myth and legend. This episode of NFL Films Presents is about football coaches making a difference on and off the field. Not only with football players but with other persons in the community as well. In particular one segment about Steve Mariucci, shows how he is constantly on the sidelines with his team and seemingly never with his family during the season.

A voice over abruptly states "The head coach is an authority figure to the team, but to his own family he is often an absent figure. Working 180 days straight during the NFL season, not exactly a perfect picture" (Sabol).
Immediately, we are spliced into Steve Mariucci's back yard. Mariucci is being interviewed by the President of NFL Films Presents, Steven Sabol. Both men are sitting in chairs facing each other on a nice sunny afternoon. Sabol asks Mariucci, "If they were to make a movie of your life, would it be comedy, adventure, or a drama? Definitely would be G-rated" (Sabol).
Mariucci replies and says his life is pretty boring. Another narration states life for Steve Mariucci is a thrill ...
