How I Met my Husband

After reading the story of "How I Met My Husband" by Alice Munro, I realized that life sometimes has surprising twists of fate and that you end up in a different place than you planned. In this story, the main character, Edie, wasted so much time waiting for a letter from the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She didn't realize that the man who was delivering her mail was going to become her husband.
In life, we need to be open to opportunities different from what we believe them to be. In relationships, we sometimes find that waiting for the perfect someone we may find love along the way. If Edie waited her entire life for Chris Watters to contact her, she might have missed out on a happy and loving life with the mailman.
I enjoyed the twists that this story took. It kept you in suspense right up to the very end, waiting to see if Edie would ever receive her letter. While reading this story, I was almost convinced that Chris would become her husband. I was very surprised that it wasn't Chris but the mailman, who she married. It just shows you that sometimes the very things we want to happen may not be the very things that fate has in store for us. Life and love almost never turn out how we have planned and we find ourselves traveling to places that we never expected.
