Thomas Hine came up with an idea called "Populuxe" which was about material objects of the highly materialistic age. Years back, a lot of things were still being produced and weren't as common or available at the time. But now, they are not only more available but also meant a lot more when bought. The time of Populuxe was described by Hine as, "A kind of golden age, but it was one that left few monuments because the pleasures of its new founded prosperity were, like Groucho Marx's secret word, 'something you find around the house.'" What Hine was trying to say here was that this part of time was so involved with materials that few people paid attention to meaningful monuments and such.
