Closing Argument for Tracy Thurman

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, it is very clear that there has been a major injustice performed by the police department of Torrington. By not responding normally to Tracy Thurman's requests, only because Buck is her husband, they took away her right as an American citizen.
There should be no difference in the way a police department responds to this sort of abuse from one human being onto another. Buck had continually abused and harassed Tracy. Tracy did the best thing to do in her situation and called the "trustworthy" police. They acted in an irresponsible manner and this crime should not go unpunished. The police were very sloppy in handling this case by losing the restraining order documents and being slow to respond to calls by Tracy.
One of the excuses used by an officer was that it would be a lot easier if she weren't married to Buck. That is an outright lie and I personally cannot believe it was said. Every human in the United States of America has rights and the Torrington police department took away Tracy's rights. If the police acted responsibly as well as correctly then maybe Tracy would not be in the condition she is today and Buck would have been locked up a long time ago.
So ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you have a decision to make between right and wrong. I pray that you will make the right choice and bring this police department to justice. I also pray that this kind of wrong doing never happens to any one human being ever again.
