Joan of Arc or maid of Orleans. Joan also called her self Jeanne la Pucelle (Joan the maid).
             Joan was born on the 06 of jan 1412.
             She lived in a village of Domremy on the Meuse in the northeast France.
             Joan was the daughter of a well to do peasant named Jacques D'Arc, and his wife Isabelle.
             Joan did not attend school, but she learnt to spin and sew from her mother. She helped with chores around the family farm and was regarded by her neighbors as a devout child.
             Joan was witty, persuasive and had shrewd common sense, but ceived no book-learning.
             History before Joan was consisted a leader.
             During her childhood much of France was ruled by the burgundians, powerful group of nobles who had joined with the English to gain control of the country. The French king, Charles VI, died in 1422, and the heir to the throne, the Dauphin Charles, had taken refuge in southern France.
             The villagers of Domremy longed for the day when the english would be driven from the land the Dauphin Charles raised to the throne.
             When she was about 13 years old, Joan's life was dramatically changed. She began to hear "voices", which she later identied as those of saints Catherine and Margaret, and of Michael the Archangel. During the next few years the saints appeared to her and told her that she must bring peace to France by having the Dauphin crowned king.
             Joan asked how a young girl could help her country, but the voices simply said it was God's command.
             At first Joan sought aid from the military commander of a nearby town, who was loyal to Daudhin, He dismissed her as foolish and sent her home. But on her secound trip, Joan succeeded in persuading him to help her. He gave her some soldiers for protection and sent her to chinon, where the Dauphin was staying.
