According to the Bell Curve, they also state that that cognitive ability is substantially heritable apparently no less than 40 percent and no more 80 percent. Therefore, when one takes an intelligence test at 5 years old that is what ones intelligence will be the rest of their life. According to Peter Sacks, Spearman believed that human intelligence was governed by a general ability passed on by generation to generation, as part of a natural selection if the fittest. He proved this by tested a group of children at a village school. The first real testing of intelligence began with Binet.
