The City

I grew up in Abu Dhabi, a small town on the gulf area. I never though I would like living in a big city such as Toronto. But I was wrong. After five years of living in Toronto, I can not imagine living in a small town again. Living in Abu Dhabi and Living in Toronto can be contrasted in terms of transportation, culture and population.
Abu Dhabi and Toronto both have some problems with the transportation system. In Abu Dhabi, you have to own a car to ensure a comfortable living. You can get around without one, but it is going to be difficult, because there is not a reliable public transportation system. Toronto has heavy traffic and expensive parking, but here you have the choice of taking a good public transportation system. It is not free, but it is cheaper than driving when you consider gas and time.
I love the excitement of Toronto. Abu Dhabi has a slow pace. In Toronto you have to get adapt to variety of situations, like finding a new route to work or trying a new restaurant Another part of the excitement in Toronto in the of variety of cultures activities available. There are large choices of music, art and dance performances, these things are rear in Abu Dhabi.
The thing I love about living in Toronto is the diversity of people. With a population of three millions Toronto is made up of people from different races, professions, religions and interests; on the other hand, you can not find such variety of people in Abu Dhabi, which has less than one third of Toronto population. Living in area where everyone is just like you would quickly become boring.
Of course, security is in my concern, and that is on area where Abu Dhabi is superior to Toronto. Still, I would rather be a bit more caution and live in Toronto than to feel secure but bored.
