The Neolithic Revolution had an immense influence to society from the period after 9000 BCE when ground and polished stone tools were mostly used, through the Great Leap Forward, to the foundation of civilization. During the Neolithic Revolution, families had more leisure time then they did before because, they started to harness nature by planting crops and domesticating animals for food, instead of always going out and hunting for food. In the process of shifting from hunting and gathering to farming, people laid the foundations of a centralized government, religion, and the development of writing. The formation of civilization in this world would have been unattainable without farming made available through the Neolithic Revolution.
             The keystone of the beginning of civilization was having a centralized government that passes laws and controls society. The early governments, during the Neolithic Revolution, made decisions so everyone involved could agree since the idea of majority rule was not thought of. In time of crisis, societies placed themselves under the rule of a dictator, who would make the final decision. As the time went by, each country had different forms of government. Conflicts between citizens or between other counties are settled by the government. If there was no government, there would be no other way to stop people from doing something wrong because, there would be no laws. Therefore, the foundation of a government was a key step to develop society. Religion was also an important characteristic of civilization. The government also protected and promoted the idea of religion. Without the gods to bless a order that gave some members of society authority over others, it would have been difficult to convince people to surrender their place in a more equal society.
