The interactions based on the relationship of the characters of this tragedy. The play "The death of a salesman" has very important interactions between and on the characters relations with each other. They have cause and affect reactions that build and shape the play. The play takes place over a period of time and people change, as such their relationships change.
             The interactions of biff and willy are the main focal point of the play, and their relationship changes throughout the play. When biff is a young boy he looks up to his father and when he catches his father in an affair when he is a teenager he looses all respect for him and the shock of it changes everything biff believed in. When biff came back home he didn't make up the credit he needed to graduate, failed high school, and missed out on two scholarships. This causes tension between the two because willy feels that biff blams him for it.
             Biff drifts around for fifteen years and works out west on a cattle ranch, his father who has ideas of grandure of biff becoming a big business success despises the idea of him being a ranch hand. Biff likes working outdoors but seeing his senial father still believe the dream that he could be a successful businessman makes biff search for his identity. After going to a meeting with bill oliver he relizes that he is a "dime a dozen" and "no great leader of men". When he tells willy this it absolutey infuriates him, willy protest's "I am not a dime a dozen! I am willy loman and you are biff loman!" Biff relizes the illusions that his father lived on. He is destined to no greatness, but no longer does he have to struggle with what he wants to do with his life.
             Hap is the youngest son, he also is the "second son" next to biff, this causes hap to show of for his parents. When hap was a young boy he would always tell willy "I'm losin weight pop, you notice?" ...
