Homelessness is a big problem in the United States. You can't go anywhere in a large city without seeing a box where a homeless person lives, or just seeing one holding a sign saying that they "will work for food." Could you even think about living like these people do? -Working only for food from day to day so that they can live. There are some things that we can do to help these people.
             One of the things we can do to help homeless people is that we can start a canned food drive. Other things will be accepted, like hygiene items, etc. Money isn't a smart thing to give someone who is homeless, because they may not always use it for the things they need. They may go out and spend the money on booze or drugs.
             I would like to start a homeless shelter in Hardin County. I know that this is something I cannot do by myself. There needs to be volunteers and funds to help start this shelter. Volunteers may be found anywhere in the community. Many school and/or church organizations may be willing to help out in starting and volunteering in the shelter. There are also some service organizations in the community that would have people who would be interested in helping. After we get volunteers together, then it is going to be important to research and analyze the homeless situation in Hardin County.
             Before anything can be started, someone needs to be appointed the leader of the project. This person needs to be trustworthy and have lot of time on their hands to devote to the project.
             One very important part of the project is having a place to start all of this. Any type of building that can house any number of people over an extended amount of time is needed. Hopefully we could find someone to donate such a building and all we would have to worry about would be the utilities and insurance. We would research and contact various government organizations to see if we could find assistance with the cost.
