             covering the executions in Lidice seemed to be tallying up deaths, keeping score so-to-speak. The
             articles were themselves peppered with numbers indicating the numbers of killings on different
             days. The focus was on concrete information such as numbers, rather than addressing the "why?"
             questions, as well as what exactly was going on.
             While the focus in European media sources seems to have been on the numbers of deaths,
             American sources such as The New York Times discussed the who, what, where, when, and why
             questions regarding the executions. Not every article in the Times articulated the who, what,
             where, when, and why issues; most of the time it was about the what, where and when. Both
             sources were descriptive as to who were the ones being executed, reporting that "21 further
             executions (were carried out), of which seven are Jews and one a woman." (The Times, page 20
             The Times articles were written by "correspondents" and some information was received
             through wireless, and radio sources. The New York Times articles were written by Daniel T.
             In the Times, the articles surrounding the executions were located in the middle of the
             often 30 to 40 page newspapers, and buried within columns and columns of text. The articles
