Culture may be defined as a society's set of values according to which people's daily lives are directly shaped and lived and how societies go about their business in all spheres of life. Culture evolves with passage of time but is more significantly affected in its evolution I believe by a society's religious and social background than outside or foreign values. As an example in my culture it is a male centered society. The males in any family are the core and source of almost all that is to do with our everyday lives. They are by default expected to breadwinners, providers of all of life's necessities. Female members of the society are considered to be sort of 'guests' in their parents homes, who will move on to build new families as they are wed off. The sons or male members will go on to be the heads of the households making all decisions as long as they possibly could for their immediate families. Parents continue to live with their male children all through their lives in most cases. Arranged marriages are still a common place a great majority of the times in sharp contrast to marriages of personal choice, but that is slowly changing. This is a direct result of evolutionary changes in our society and culture. As a matter of fact my own marriage is an arranged one and I had never ever seen or met my wife before I got married to her. However my younger brothers chose to marry of their own choice, which brought them a lot of admonishment from our parents. I personally believe cultures should be cherished and maintained (may sound orthodox or conservative) but reality lies in where ones' origins are and are unique and beautiful in their own sense. All cultures should be respected for what they are and stand for. There's no culture that is wrong.
